Flat fees

A flat fee for each stage, written down first

Each fee covers our work on the stage described, including every call and email. What it comes to depends on your case, and you see it in a written quote before we start.

  • Uncontested divorce

For spouses who agree, or nearly agree, on property, support and the children. A contested stage is quoted separately.

    • Petition and filing

    • Financial disclosures

    • Settlement agreement

    • Parenting plan

    • Final judgment

  • Parenting plan

A first plan, or a change to an old one, agreed or mediated. A contested hearing is quoted separately.

    • Draft plan

    • Holiday schedule

    • Mediation prep

    • Filing and service

    • Final order

  • Support change

Asking to change child or spousal support, or answering a request. A hearing is quoted on its own.

    • Worksheet with you

    • Income records

    • Filing the request

    • Agreed order

    • Summary of the order

  • Protective order

Asking for a restraining or stalking order, or answering one, through the hearing. Later contempt hearings are quoted separately.

    • Petition or response

    • Hearing preparation

    • A lawyer at the hearing

    • Safety planning

    • After-order advice

Filing fees and other costs paid to others are never part of the fee; we list them on your written quote.

Questions about paying

What does a flat fee include?

All of our work on the stage described: drafting, filing, every call and email, and a summary at the end. If you need something outside it, we quote that in writing first.

What isn't included?

Money paid to others: court filing fees, service of papers, appraisals, and evaluators or experts if your case needs them. We list them on your quote.

What if my case turns contested?

We stop at the end of the stage you've paid for and quote the next one. You decide whether to go on, and nothing is billed by the hour.

Can I pay in installments?

Yes. Most clients pay half when they sign the engagement letter and the rest over two or three months.

Is the first call really free?

Yes. Thirty minutes, by video or phone, and a written quote afterwards if you'd like one.

A first call doesn't make us your lawyers; a signed engagement letter does.
