Maren Castillo

Founding attorney, divorce and parenting plans

Maren works with parents in the first, foggiest weeks of a divorce, and stays with them until the judgment is signed.

Maren handles divorces from the first filing to the final judgment, and most of the parenting plans that go with them. She started Lantern Family Law after years of watching clients open invoices they hadn't expected, and she still writes every flat-fee quote herself.

On a first call she asks two questions before any others: are you safe, and how are the children sleeping.

How Maren works

Maren keeps a short list of what happens next at the top of every email, so you can find your place without reading the whole thread.

She prefers to settle when settling is safe and fair, and she prepares every case as if it might go to trial, so the other side can tell.

Outside the office she coaches a Saturday soccer team in Sellwood, which she says is the best training she's had for mediation.

A first call doesn't make us your lawyers; a signed engagement letter does.
